Flutterfly Invasion

I'm a RENT-obsessed, Star Trek loving college student living in an Empire State of Mind. And also? I'm crippled. My thoughts on life and other odds and ends.

Ask me anything

(Ableism, Ableist slurs) You know, you don’t have to insult a person’s intelligence to make it known that you disagree with them.

agirlcalledhome:

It’s insulting to people with real disabilities, who have been targeted as “stupid”, “idiotic”, and “retarded” all their lives. It perpetuates the idea that intelligence is a marker of social awareness. And if that isn’t enough to convince you (in which case you’re a pretty insensitive individual), those words don’t do anything to get your point across. They make you seem desperate and short on ideas.
